While I have liked some of the Dead stuff they've released, I'd love to see more of the JGB like this come out.

The Let It Rock from that release is playing at dead.net and it sounds really nice. I have to say that I have been very happy with the 2 Jerry solo projects that have recently been released and will likely pick this one up as well. In contrast I haven't had any interest in the last two RT releases or the Winterland '77 box.

What He Said.

Elbow, I'm not one to hijack, but if a weeknight dinner or beer Nov-16-19 is a good idea, let me know, as the missus is off to Texas that week.

Hijack away, it's an SDH thread. I am around that week so that could work.

Hey, don't encourage him.

Nah, considering I've been called the DB Cooper of the Forum, I guess I deserve it.

This look's like something for your archives... What a long strange trip.

speaking of JGB: i had never heard the original (i think) "Dont Let (me) Go" until last night - Jimmie Witherspoon tune. Pretty damn cool little tune although far shorter, obviously, than Mr. Garcia's takes on the little ditty.

Do I detect that an exploration of the blues is currently in progress over at Wolf Mansions?

yes indeedee! :)

and some jazz artists with whose work i am also basically unfamiliar.

basically been on a massive musical exploration lately. Wolf Mansion and the WolfMobile have been filled with the joyful sounds of musical treasures over the past couple of weeks. (occasionally, much to the chagrin of Mrs. Wolf depending upon the artist to whom i am currently listening.)

Fantastic! Sounds like a most excellent way to pass the time. Here's another for your collection:

Some big beardy guy folks around here like to talk about now and then did a cover of this tune.

great song!! love G&G's version of it - Jerry's voice is perfect for that song

(i thought it was originally written by Elizabeth Cotton, but maybe i have it confused with another tune)

The Audio section of the Archive is well worth prospecting in, especially around the 78rpm section - there's some really nice stuff to be found there.

There are few albums that I've jumped up and shouted, "where have you been all my life!?!" This is one of them:

I Am The Blues is a Chicago blues album released in 1970 by the well-known bluesman Willie Dixon.

Track listing
"Back Door Man" (Willie Dixon) 6:08
"I Can't Quit You Baby" (Dixon) 6:40
"Seventh Son" (Dixon) 4:15
"Spoonful" (Dixon) 4:56
"I Ain't Superstitious" (Dixon) 4:03
"You Shook Me" (Dixon/J.B. Lenore) 4:15
"(I'm Your) Hoochie Coochie Man" (Dixon) 4:48
"Little Red Rooster" (Dixon) 3:36
"Same Thing" (Dixon) 4:40

You might recognize a few of the songs played by other posers. Do yourself a favor and check it out. I can send you a copy if you can't find it at your local library or record store.

That is a great release! I'll be picking that one up for sure. There was a pretty good discussion regarding Nicky Hopkins a few months ago, including a story from fenario80.

I've been listening to the 20 December Winterland show with this line up and it's very sweet indeed. Garcia and Hopkins go really well together and Kahn and Tutt propel everything along to good effect. I'd say this release is definitely worth considering.
